Avoiding Exceptions
Software Setup
Email related
- Use the Test Login button on the Login tab to confirm that your login
information is correctly specified.
- Is your email client fully MAPI compliant? Outlook is, Outlook Express is
not, Lotus Notes can be but may need extra downloads and patches from the
Lotus web site, as it was not fully MAPI compliant at the time of writing.
- If your mail client is not fully MAPI compliant, you may be able to
connect to it via Outlook, i.e. using Outlook as a client to view your other
emails.
- Netscape Mail and Lotus Notes can both be accessed using Outlook as a
client.
- Incompatibilities: To avoid problems with software that is not fully
MAPI-compliant, we advise NOT to move processed emails to a new folder; use
the Default or Prompt Login options; do not set processed emails to 'Read'
status.
TextPipe Pro related
- Is TextPipe installed? If not, you can download the evaluation version
from
here, or the full version with your purchase
password.
- Please disable the TextPipe Wizard and Tip of the Day dialogs in TextPipe
(under the Tools menu).
- Does clicking the filter Open button (on AbusePipe's Filter tab) work? If not, if you double-click on
a TextPipe filter in Windows Explorer, does TextPipe open? If not, TextPipe
needs to be reinstalled.
- TextPipe is usually installed in C:\Program Files\TextPipe. To check where
it is installed, hover the mouse cursor over the 'TextPipe is Installed' label
on the Filter tab.
- Scripting - if you use the TextPipe VBScript or JScript filter, you must
have installed the
Scripting download from Microsoft. Normally this is installed anyway on
new systems.
- Database connection - if you use the TextPipe database filter, you may
need the
latest version of MDAC to get the latest database drivers.
